ROK, War Service Medal, 1st issue 1954

Obverse Circular with a raised rim and another rim 1mm inside the first containing 64 equidistant raised dots. The bottom half of the medal contains two crossed rifle bullets 18mm long above which is a 15mm diameter raised polar projection map with Korea, encircled by two olive branches.
Reverse Plain except for the inscription in 4.5mm Korean characters (Korea) around the lower half of the medal and (War Service Medal) from top centre to bottom.
Size 32.5mm in diameter and 2.5mm thick
Suspension Struck in one piece a 15mm semi-circular ring 2mm wide to allow the ribbon to pass through. The portion between the medal and ring is 3mm wide containing two raised lines arcing from the medal to each side of the ring.
Composition Bronze, coated with a dark lacquer.

Ribbon 27mm wide, with a 14.5mm central stripe of yellow, and on either side are white 0.75mm, red 0.75mm, white 0.75mm and light green 4mm.
