Obverse The representation of Asoka’s three lions as shown on Asoka’s pillar at Sarnath, the Indian State emblem and Moto, inside a 1.2mm raised rim surrounded by the legend “ ”, (Wound Medal) in Sanskrit on the left and “ WOUND MEDAL ", on the right.
Reverse The Wheel, or Chakra of Asoka.
Size 35mm wide and 3mm thick.
Suspension By a non-swivelling ring.
Composition Cupro-nickel.
