THE DANISH RED CROSS BADGE OF HONOUR, 1st type, pre 1963 (Dansk Rode Kors’ Haederstegn)

Obverse A 1.5mm raised rim, straight armed cross with a white enamel circular centre with a 10 X 10 mm red cross in the middle. On the arms of the outer cross are the initials ‘D D R K’ in 8mm high letters one letter on each arm starting from the left  and reading clockwise.
Reverse A 1.5mm raised rim and ‘ INTER ARMA CARITAS’ in 4mm letters across the central arm of the cross. On the upper and lower arms of the cross is a 8mm diameter rose.
Size 39 X 39mm cross.
Suspension The ribbon is threaded through a 12mm diameter ring, which passes through a 5mm sphere fixed to the top of the medal. The ring will move forwards and backwards but not sideways.
Composition Silver.

Ribbon Red 27mm wide, with two 4mm white stripes inset by 0.5mm.
