THE KOREA MEDAL (Koreamedaillen)

Obverse A 1.5mm raised rim with the bust of King Frederik IX facing right surrounded by
the legend "FRIDERICUS IX REX DANIAE" in 2mm high letters, and the name
of the engraver 'H. SALOMON' below the bust.
Reverse A 1.5mm raised rim and at the top "JUTLANDIA", below which is a wreath of oak
leaves enclosing the words "KOREA / 1951-1953" in two lines
Size 31mm diameter.
Suspension The ribbon is threaded through a 12mm diameter ring, which passes through a
4mm loop fixed to the top of the medal. The ring will move forwards and
backwards but not sideways.
Composition Silver.
Designers H. Salomon and manufactured in Copenhagen by the Royal Danish Mint.
Naming Issued unnamed.
Ribbon Red 27mm wide, with two 5.5mm white stripes inset by 1.5mm.

Instituted 17 January 1956 by King Frederik IX, for service on the hospital ship Jutlandia. (Erindringsmedaillen for deltagelse i hospitalskibet "Jutlandia" Ekspedition til Korea 1951- 1953.)
Qualification Issued to those serving in the "Jutlandia" between 1951 and 1953. It was awarded to both men and women on the recommendation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, who could also recommend foreigners for the award.
