Instituted |
For award to members of the Canadian Forces for service preformed under
exceptional circumstances, in a clearly defined locality for a specific
duration.
The award was approved by Queen Elizabeth II on 16th June 1984. |

Qualification |
PEACE PAIX bars awarded to Canadian Forces for a service preformed
under exceptional circumstances in a clearly defined locality for a minimum
of
180 days not necessarily in a theatre of active operation. The medal may be
awarded to persons who are not members of the Canadian Forces.
Eligible Missions and Operations related to the Korean War are: -
UNTCOK (UN Temporary Commission on Korea) 14.11.47 to 2. 6.50
UNCMAC - (UN Command Military Armistice Commission) 27. 7.53 to
present day, including post-conflict service with HMCS Sioux
as well as deployed Canadian army and air force units in
Korea and Korean Waters.
The PEACE PAIX bar was superseded by the Canadian Peacekeeping
Service Medal on 21st June 2001.
